Registry patch for Autoplay in Windows XP:

Windows XP comes with an AutoPlay option that automatically plays CDs or
DVDs when they are inserted in the optical drive.
NOTE: The disc should also be designed to support this AutoPlay
feature.
To enable the AutoPlay option, follow these steps:
1. Click Start and then click My Computer.
2. Right-click the CD or DVD drive icon.
3. Click Properties.
4. Click the AutoPlay tab.
5. Select the file type that you want to open automatically from the
drop-down menu .
6. Click Select an action to perform.
7. Click the action you want Windows XP to perform from the Actions
menu.
8. Repeat until all file types have been associated with an action.
9. Click OK.
If the problem persists, please follow these steps:
1. Click My Computer
2. Right-click CD-ROM
3. Click Properties
4. Click Autoplay tab
5. Check "select an action to perform"
6. And deselect option "Take No Action"
7. Click Apply.
This will enable the Autoplay in Windows XP.
If the problem is not resolved, you can enable the Autoplay from Registry. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type "Regedit" (without quotes)
4. Open: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
5. Change to value of 'Autorun', or create a new DWORD value if it doesn't exist: (0=disable, 1=enable)
6. Restart the Computer.

Ensure shell hardware detection is started and set on automatic in Administrative Tools. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
3. Double-click Component Services.
4. Select Services.
5. Locate "Shell Hardware Details."
6. Select the option and restart the service.
Also, check if the "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" value is set to 0x00000091. Do not make any changes in the registry as incorrect registry entry may cause serious system problems or prevent the computer from starting.

2. Navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT USER_\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer
